Rain, Rain, Go Away, I Have To Celebrate Canada Day

This has kind of been a miserable week. It has been calling for thunderstorms every.single.day. Now I love a good thunderstorm, don't get me wrong. But I like thunderstorms at night when I can lie in my bed or snuggle up on the couch and stare out the window at all the stormy goodness. I don't like thunderstorms in the middle of the day when I have to work. My hair becomes an unmanageable frizz ball, I feel damp and sticky all day from all the humidity, and my mood turns just as gloomy as the weather. I especially don't like thunderstorms on Fridays, or any day of the weekend, for that matter. It just takes away a little bit of that happy-go-lucky excitement that naturally fills you up on Fridays.

This is my current view from work. Actually it's not even my view because my office doesn't have a window. It's the view I can see if I lean to the right of my desk to look out the front window.

See all that gloom? It's not making it easy for me to turn my frown upside down. Especially this weekend because it's Canada Day. How am I supposed to wear something cute and patriotic with all this weather?

Right there is what I hope to be doing this weekend. There's nothing better than a good celebratory summer barbecue complete with a few festive cocktails. And the obligatory fireworks.

So even if you don't have a three-day weekend like me, celebrate like you do and try to keep out of the rain!

Moving and Running

Today was an eventful and exhausting day. Today I helped my brother move.

This was me all day long. My job was to take care of the small stuff: lamps, small boxes, the Rock Band drum set, miscellaneous odds and ends, etc. Pretty important stuff.

There was definitely some of this going on while trying to get a table out the door.

But then we got pizza and everything was better. I'm pretty sure this is what my face looked like.

Another good part of the day was that I got to wear my brand spanking new running shoes! I've been drooling over Nike Free Runs for months and months and months. I want to make my own cool ones with custom colours but a) I can't afford to spend that much money on running shoes, and b) I can't justify spending that much money on running shoes. So luckily I found some similar looking ones for a fraction of the price!

They're no Free Runs, but I'm happy with them and definitely happy with the price tag!

My New Obsession

So I need to tell you about something I've discovered recently... Polyvore!! I know what you're thinking. "C'mon Amanda, where have you been, get it together." I know, I know. Shame on me. I can't remember exactly how I found out about it, but I'm hooked. I don't even want to tell you how many minutes hours I have spent playing around with different outfits, finding matching shoes, finding the perfect accessories. It's all starting to blur together. And I'm perfectly fine with that.

Summer Chic

I only wish I had somewhere cool to wear an outfit like this. Maybe if I moved to a bigger city.. I would stand out like a sore thumb in my neighbourhood.

This reminds me of when I was younger and I played with those paper dolls that you would put the little paper clothes on. You know the ones where you would just fold the tab over the body part to attach the clothes? That was back in the day when I used to hide my Barbies and anything girly because I had to keep up my tomboy reputation. Living a double life at 7 was stressful. Luckily, I'm out of that phase now.

Summer Wedding

This is another outfit that makes me wish I had a wedding to go to this summer. I know plenty of couples getting married this summer, but sadly I am not invited to any of their weddings. It's ok, I'll just sit in my backyard and drink my wine.. sounds terrible, I know.

Speaking of wine, it's time for me to end this post. I have responsibilities to get to, namely said wine.
